Blocks Recieved

I received Blondie's blocks this week, and they are just, if not more stunning in real life.  I even got the scraps and a charm to use to make something else, so thank you so much.

Now to get myself organised, I have some blocks to make

The Beginning of My Barn Door Collection

I've just received the two beautiful blue and white barn door blocks from Linda that she posted below.  I was so excited to get them.  They are the beginning of a fun, new quilt.

Making HST - Half Square Triangles - Updated

I just thought that I would add a little not about the Half Square Triangles.  I guess I really never read the instructions on how to make the HST or just thought that every one knows how to do these....  Well I am deeply sorry for those who do not - I was there in June and have now become a master at this....

Cutting your fabric:
Method 1
Light 3 ½” x 7” rectangle, cut 2 squares – 3 3/8” x 3 3/8”.  From the medium/dark 3 ½” x 7” rectangle, cut 2 squares – 3 3/8” x 3 3/8”.  Cut each square once on the diagonal to make two triangles.  With right sides together, match on light triangle to on medium/dark triangle.  Sew a scant ¼” seam allowance on the long edge of the triangles.  Press seam toward the medium/dark fabric

Method 2
Light 3½”x 7” rectangle and on medium/dark 3 ½” x 7” rectangle in half to make four squares measuring 3 ½” x 3 ½”.  Mark a diagonal line on the wrong side of the light square from one corner to the opposing corner.  Align a light square to a medium/dark square with the right sides together.  Sew a scant ¼” seam allowance on both sides of the drawn line.  Cut apart on the drawn line and press the seams toward the medium/dark fabric.  Using a small square ruler, trim the half-triangle square to measure 3” x 3”

I have done both and methods and 2 works best for me.

I hope that this helps.

I have a few additions to add to this, I hope this will help
